①Showsome pictures about their own experience.Then use adjectives to describe themwith proper feelings on the face.

②Showthe pictures of the two restaurants in 1a.Ask students to describe them.Use:loudmusic,strange/interestingpictures,quietplace,elegantmusic…

③Helpstudents to say out their thoughts or feelings.The teacher writes “makesb.adj.” and “makesb.adj.” on the blackboardto help them.

④Afterthey understand these,get them to ask and answer in pairs:Whichrestaurant do you like?Why?Then the teacher asks the whole class the questions.

2.Finishthe task in 1b

①Playthe recording for the first time.Students only listen.

②Readthe instructions and the contents in 1b.Play the recording a second time.Askthem to fill in the blanks.

③Checkthe answers in pairs.Do it like this:

This isthe first period of the unit.Our main task is to get the students to learn thestructure “make+sb.+do sth.” and “make+sb.+adj.” inthis unit.The teacher should teach the main structure by giving a lot of oraland listening practice.Then let them read a short conversation and learn someidioms and useful expressions.Tell the students to remember these idioms whenlearning English.Have the students learn the structure by comparing and makingsummaries.
